I hear this a lot during my day. Mostly from Eliza who would like me to be quiet so she can start talking, she comes from a long line of chatterboxes so I can see it’s going to be a tough road for all of us!
Now at dinner time she will says “excuse me mummy/daddy I would like to talk to you” or she says “excuse me daddy, will you talk to me now?” YAY for being polite She says it at such volume though you have to say “Eliza you have to stop shouting and say it nicely and then you have to wait until the person says Yes what is it sweet girl” OK volume currently is stuck on LOUD we’ll fix it I am sure.
Now I like to sing, all the time except around any one but my kids and Unal. Traumatised by Rudolph the red nosed reindeer at the age of 6 at a Ballet recital. Anyway so I sing, and Eliza has I’d say in the last 2-4 months become self conscious on some levels. She has most certainly reached “you are embarrassing me” level.
Today at playgroup during song time I was repeatedly reminded “You need to be quiet” and when I forget I was meant to be quiet and started making the noise of a goat (Old Mac Donald) I was told “MURRRRMMMMMMMMMMMM – you need to be quiet” followed by her glaring at me in a “Everyone is looking at me with my embarrassing mum” yes she calls me mum now, no Idea why or how but she does a lot.
Funny thing is though I get out the microphone to sing and she gets oddly excited as does Unal who said “I love it when you sing, I am so happy you are going to play singstar”
so am I good or am I bad – who knows but I do know my little girl is growing up fast – so, so fast.

aww she is so sweet!! I am now ‘mom’ too and not mommy anymore, where do they get it? Oh and I am sure you are a fabulous singer nat
