Taming of the shrew

2 weeks old so tiny, so quiet, so precious

2 weeks old so tiny, so quiet, so precious

I’m trying desperately to upload a video of Eliza and myself to You tube. Our new house has the SHITEST reception known to man. I feel like I live near some presidential building or some big bank where there have all this interference technology so you can’t use yours ITS SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!! My mobile phone doesn’t work in various rooms or even in some corners of a room. So if someone rings me on it and I manage to actually hear it ring and answer it, without it dropping out I have to then stay exactly where I am or I loose them. IT”S FRUSTRATING what the hell is wrong with this country and 3friggenG?

Anyway I was reading a book, my sister in Law gave to me shortly after Eliza was born it’s called “learning FUNdementals. It’s quite an old book the one I have was published in 1993 but not sure if that was the first time! It covers all the usual banter about how music and language are the foundations for speech etc. Then it hits the 3 year old section the very last part as there is a 2nd book for 3-6 year olds. In it was a part about calming your child down or just having quiet time with them and getting them to take you on a journey by telling you a story. I tried this with Eliza and she wasn’t into it at all I think mainly because I read that then hoiked her off, her puzzle and said “hey tell me a story I want to go to the moon how will I get there?” and she said “get in a rocket, can I do my puzzle now?” So low and behold I pondered could I use that technique for calming down in a tantrum setting.

And the answer my friend is blowing in the wind. You can indeed do this!! You need to have the patience of a fisherman to do this be warned! I mostly have great patience too much if you ask my husband. Some days I have none and it’s really evident by my yelling and demands for Prozac lattes. This has been working for us (Eliza and I) this past 10 days NO TANTRUMS to speak of a WHOLE week no naughty corner a whole week of me NOT raising my voice. I felt inner peace and Eliza felt safe and calm it was good. So please if you are in the joyous stage of a tantrum-ing small human try this out I hope it works for you! If not I know a good DR. for you that is not your child lol I realise I look like death barely warmed up it was late 7ish and yes I just ate some nuts lol and I am already in my PJ’s so glamourous.

It’s long you’ve been warned….here’s the link
