Most people shop at the same shop week after week, year after year. Some people buy household products at poundland and then go to markets for fruit and veg.
Me personally I drive to a farm once a week and buy my meat and fish. I don’t like eating meat that has been frozen I like fresh meat. I do occasionally buy chicken and freeze it. I do this so I always have “emergency food” I was shopping at Tescos and then, well I thought about how they arrest women for squeezing a muffin and then not buying it. They sell cards that degrade people who have red hair.
And they are no cheaper than my local Waitrose. Yes that’s right. So I stopped going there. The staff hated their jobs, two of them said as much. They also said they wouldn’t shop here given the opportunity as it was getting more expensive.
So I went back to my faithful Waitrose where I have my own little scanner I scan and pack and then I hand my scanner to the cashier and I pay and leave. There is rarely anyone on the self check desk making it a very quick process. The customer service is pretty good in there as well. And the consumers aren’t rude either.
Today my husband asked me to do the grocery shop at ASDA, as he thinks it’s cheaper.
ASDA is about 6 miles away. And in a not so nice area. I immediately refused.
He stated that I would save money, I stated yes and lose my life. I’ve been to that ASDA it’s a mess the shelves are a mess, the stuff is everywhere, the vegtables look like they have been in a washing machine. And it was PACKED I hate shopping like that. I was stressed to the max in there, I was so happy when I had to leave to take Eliza to the toilet.
So Husband asked me to price check, why he couldn’t do this himself I don’t know. So with a few expletives I did it. so for the record.
Nappies are £4.48 at Waitrose I buy Pampers Junior size 5+ they are £5.98 at Asda
Potatoes are £1 cheaper at Asda for the same amount and the same kind.
Tropicana Orange Juice is £2.95 at Waitrose But they always have 2 for £4.50 and £2 at Asda AT THE MOMENT as it’s on special otherwise it’s £2.75
The chicken thighs are cheaper at Waitrose as you get more in a pack so if you bought two packs of 4 at Asda you’d spend more.
Asda don’t sell the fabric conditioner I use. Nor the butter we like.
+ It’s 6 miles whereas Waitrose is about 3 and free parking, if you don’t get your coin at Asda you get charged and you may get a fine.
So if I went to Asda, I’d be saving pennies not pounds, + I would have to pay for extra fuel.
Overall I’m saving money & getting more for my money at Waitrose. So there, put that in your pipe and smoke it

online grocery shopping baby!!! xx
THIS THIS THIS! Asda is cheap for some things. The 6 pack of babywipes for a fiver is pretty good and I like their own brand nappies, but I’ve done a weekly shop there, found they didn’t stock half of what I needed and it came to way more than it would have done in Sainsburys. I ended up going to Sainsburys to get the rest and it was a hassle and a palava.
I also buy fresh (never ever frozen meat unless I really have to) I make everything from scratch and I never ever have readymeals in the house, and for those things, yes, the supermarkets often deemed the more expensive come out the cheapest for me time and time again!
That’s interesting. I always thought Waitrose was really expensive, on a par with M&S – and I usually would have said it was one of those grocery stores for luxury items! What do I know. We don’t have a Waitrose around here, the nearest one if Newcastle as far as I know, which is 45 miles away. However, I do my shopping online with ASDA and apart from the odd piece of fruit and veg being not up to scratch, I haven’t found fault with it at all. The delivery men are all very polite and helpful. BUT, I absolutely hate shopping in store, which is why I do it online. TESCO however, won’t delivery to me because they say I’m too far away in the middle of nowhere.
