The most wonderful time of the year is here and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably busier than ever. Trust me, I know how that feels! When the weather was still friendly, I used to love and go for long walks to clear my head and relax a little, but with this cold, I’d rather skip that for the moment. But what is it to do, when you’re stuck inside but you’re still craving for that me time that you need like air? Well, luckily you are here and I have a few tips for you, tips that will help you fight the boredom and have a great time in the comfort of your own home. Ready? Enjoy!
1. When was the last time that you did something for your soul? – Sounds pretty mushy, but it’s actually quite an important matter. What is your favorite thing to do? Do you enjoy listening to old music, or maybe read a good book, or maybe you like to paint? It can be anything, just take the time and do it. Just take some time for the things you like at least a few times per week. You will see how good you will feel.
2. Movie marathon – I love this, it’s my favorite thing to do, especially after the kids go to bed. The house is all quiet and I can enjoy my favorite movies in peace and relax.
3. Invite your friends over – Well, relaxing doesn’t always need to mean alone time, right? What could be more fun than a girl’s night? You can cook together a nice dinner and watch something exciting, like horse racing. I always love to watch that and sometimes, just to make things more interesting, we bet on what horse is going to win. Of course, since we don’t have any experience, we always check the top Cheltenham bets at William Hill and see what the scores are and who’s favorite.
4. Family games – Some me time is always welcome, but it’s nice to have some fun with the family too. I always start a nice evening with the family by cooking something special and involving the kids in the meal prep. It’s a nice activity and I get to bond with my two girls. Then, after dinner, we usually play a nice game, Monopoly being our all time favorite and the game that I always seem to lose, that is if we manage to finish it until the kids go to bed. You don’t have to do this every night, we all have busy schedules, but at least two times a week it’s a must, in my opinion.
These are just a few suggestions that help me relax and have fun at the same time during the cold season when I can’t really go out as much as would like to. I would also love to hear your ideas of fun activities and who knows, maybe I’ll add them to my list.
